Prom Information (from September 30)
I received some great news today that I want to share with you in advance of some other senior class updates that will be sent out over the next week or so. As you know, we have paid $6000 to The Rooster Tail in Detroit to secure the venue for our senior prom, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 7:00-12:00. Obviously, the prom will only take place as planned if COVID-19 protocol at the time allows this. So the news is this: The Rooster Tail has added $18000 to our account, and we now have a balance of $24000. So we owe $600 to pay for our prom in full. The $18000 comes from the Class of 2020's account with the Rooster Tail. I share this with you because a. you have a right to know this information as it just became official this afternoon; and b. I know that many of you were worried about our lack of fund-raising because of the pandemic. There are still some prom expenses that we need to pay for beyond the $600 that we owe The Rooster Tail, but we have approximately $4000 currently in our account. For example, we need a DJ (which I am currently looking into--let me know if you want to help with this), and a few miscellaneous expenses. The bottom line is that if we are allowed by the State of Michigan to have our event at the Rooster Tail, tickets will be available for very low cost to our class members. If you have any questions, please let me know. What we are currently experiencing with COVID-19 is not easy, but it may be possible for us to at least not worry about the cost of prom. Go Jags!
Student Council Information
Every year, advisors have the right to appoint a 10th representative to the class student council. This year, I'm proud to select Kendra Clark to be that representative. Kendra was gracious enough to fill a vacant spot last school year, but she was unable to fully complete her time as a representative because of the school closure. Please welcome Kendra back to STUCO 2021!
Personal and Summer Reading Information:
Please see below for general information about personal reading that we do every day for the first 10 minutes of class; a power-point for what I read this year, and some ways to find appropriate books to read. For copies of the 1-pagers that are one option for assessments that are due the first Friday of every month, as well as this year's summer reading information, please go to www.aphsenglish.weebly.com.
Other options are to Tweet an image of your book cover and a short commentary with the hashtag #aphsreads or to do a Google slides presentation. Details are in the following file:

On Friday, November 10, 2017, APHS hosted approximately 50 veterans so that they could be honored by our students and staff. This is the 12th consecutive year that we have honored our veterans in what has become an annual event. Thank you to our veterans and active military for your service today, and every day.
The Michigan Shakespeare Festival performed at Allen Park High School!
On Monday, May 22, 2017, all juniors had the opportunity to see a performance of Macbeth produced by a professional acting company from the Michigan Shakespeare Festival headquartered in Jackson, Michigan.
